28th December 2009 --- With only a few tugs in traffic, with a rare sunny morning and with less than a handful of shots of 60051, it was an opportunity hard to resist when the loco was allocated to the 6E41 Westerleigh to Lindsey tanks. Due to the train running over 30minutes early, it turned out to be a 'quick grab and go' as I arrived at the location with only few minutes to spare. The location is Cam and Dursley station, with 60051 dodging the winter shadows. Many thanks to the Lizard for the update and nice meeting Mike at the location.

The loco is parked infront of DRS 66415 which had come down on Friday afternoon with the 6Z67 Shipley to Cardiff Tidal scrap (see Friday's collection), a working which used to be worked by an advenza loco such as 57005.

Next to the train, making a bizarre sight was Network Rail's 31465 top-and-tailed with 31285 awaiting departure from Newport with the 1Z12 back to Bristol Temple Meads via Bristol Parkway. Both trains arrived and departed at the same time. Many thanks to the lizard for the 1Z12 info.

17th November 2009 --- DRS 37602 returned from Cornwall today with the current RHTT set after delivering a new set of RHTT wagons yesterday for the Devon/Cornish sandite services. Yesterday whilst hauling the new wagons there were many delays, including a late departure and then assisting a failed 6e41. Today it returned near enough to time as the 6Z37 St Blazey to York with the used/dirty RHTT wagons. The train awaits a 1754 departure from Bristol Temple Meads after arriving at 16:50 in thr centre road. Many thanks to the lizard for the info and to all other previous posters for the updates.

28th October 2009 --- With the Tesco Express contract being taken over by DB Schenker in about 2weeks time. The Eddie Stobart livery carried by 66411 and 66414, is soon to become history. When the contract finishes with DRS the stobart stickers will surely be removed. However, DBS have already repainted 92017 (Bart) into Stobart livery, and 66124 is following. There have been some good workings in the South West this month, including D1015 on Silver bullets, Br Blue 31106 on a test train, D7017 on WSR freight and 66704 on a FGW move. Adding a name to that list was Stobart liveried '66411' which today made its 'maiden' appearance in the South West when it was paired up with DRS Compass liveried 66422 on the 6V74 Crewe Coal Sidings to Bridgwater nuclear flasks. Eddie the Engine awaits to depart Bridgwater compound with the 6M67 Bridgwater to Crewe Coal sidings return nukes. Nice meeting, Cellophane Steve, Cam, LJS, 47840chaser and co. The only other stobart liveried loco to visit the South West, was 47832 when the Stobart Pullman was operating.

11th September 2009 --- With many more reinstatements to follow, 60073 has been a target for many railenthusiasts when it came out of storage last weekend. Going to Carlisle, Tees and Doncaster, the tug made its way down on Wednesday morning and took over from 60013 on the 6B13 Robeston to Westerleigh and 6B47 duties. This is the first time this year that 60073 has been in traffic. The tug with the 6B47 empty murco tanks in tow passes Purton just minutes infront of the 6V67. The old severn railway bridge used to go over the railway line (near to the end of the wagon in the photo) and would cross both the railway line and the river in this shot.

5th September 2009 --- After a long wait of 10 years, 37s finally returned to the Saturday Weymouth diagram instead of the usual pair of ‘67s’ to mark the expected end of another long established loco hauled diagram which could see the Dorset resort without any loco hauled activity next Summer. After being rumoured to make an appearance on the Taunton to Cardiff diagram only for it not to take place, FGW this time requested two DBS ‘37s’ to mark the final day of the loco hauled diagram, with37670 and 37401 providing the power, the pair speed through Newton St Loe on the approach to Twerton tunnel with possibly the last loco hauled 2O72 Bristol Temple Meads to Weymouth...only time will tell if this was the last appearance.
